Difficulty Level: Intermediate

A cozy winter-inspired amigurumi project to bring woodland charm to your crochet time.
This free Bullfinch Amigurumi pattern is designed by Oksana Lifenko (YouTube) and captures the bold red chest and delicate contrast of this beloved winter bird. With its compact, palm-sized shape and realistic coloring, this design makes a beautiful choice for seasonal decor, handmade gift ideas, or woodland-themed collections. Character bird projects like the mini owl amigurumi show how small nature-inspired toys can become customer favorites. We sincerely thank Oksana Lifenko for sharing this charming bullfinch design with the crochet community.

This is an intermediate amigurumi pattern intended for crocheters comfortable with shaping and assembly. The toy is made using smooth acrylic, cotton, or semi-cotton yarn, and the beak can be crafted from polymer clay or replaced with a ready-made toy beak. It is crocheted in parts and assembled, making it more detailed than beginner designs. If you enjoy realistic animal projects, you may also love the small hippo amigurumi featured on our blog.

The final size depends on yarn thickness and hook size, typically about half the size of a palm. You will need red or bright orange, black, and gray yarn, a suitable crochet hook, safety or bead eyes, stuffing, glue, and basic tools. At the end of the pattern, you will also find related amigurumi ideas shared for extra inspiration.
