Crochet Hook (I used 4mm)
Safety Eyes (I used 10mm)
Stuffing
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
(optional) Stitch Markers

Abbreviations

sc – single crochet
inc– increase
dec – decrease (invisible)
slst – slip stitch
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
hdc inc – half double crochet increase
BO – bobble stitch 5 loops on the hook
FLO – front loops only
MR – magic ring

*This pattern is worked in continuous rounds.*

CROCHET BABY CRAB

Using red yarn…
Round 1: 8sc in MR (8)
Round 2: (inc) repeat 8 times (16)
Round 3: (sc, inc) repeat 8 times (24)
• The bobbles in the next round are made with 4 unfinished double crochets. There should be 5 loops on the hook before pulling through.
Round 4: 10sc, BO, 3sc, BO, 9sc (24)
• In the next round, mark the first back loop with a stitch marker.
Round 5: Working in FLO, (3sc, inc) repeat 5 times, 4sc (29)
Round 6: Working in the remaining back loops starting with where your stitch marker is, sc around (24)

If needed, adjust the location ofthe legs to make sure they are evenly located on the sides as shown in the picture below.

Round 7: 5sc, Leg, 2sc, Leg, 2sc, Leg, 8sc, Leg, 2sc, Leg, 2sc, Leg, 3sc (24)

Legs:

ch5, starting in 2nd chain from hook, slst x4, slst back into original stitch in body.

Round 8: skip over the legs and claws, (2sc, dec) repeat 6 times (18)
• Add safety eyes in bobbles
Round 9: (sc, dec) repeat 6 times (12)
• Stuff
Round 10: (dec) repeat 6 times (6)
• Slip stitch in the next stitch and fasten off
• Sew hole closed

Claws:

Right Claw – Hold up-side down and front facing you. Insert your hook between rounds 7-8 and pull yarn through. Complete instructions below for the claw.

Left Claw – Hold right-side up and the front facing you. Insert your hook between rounds 7-8 and pull yarn through. Complete instructions below for the claw.

Claws: ch6, starting in 2nd chain from hook, sc, hdc inc, hdc, slst x2, slst back into body.
