Let’s make something fun and adorable today…
Bring the magic of Bikini Bottom to life with this SpongeBob SquarePants Crochet Free Amigurumi Pattern for Beginners, designed by the talented Jennifer Billings Ward (Ravelry). Using plush yarn like Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles Lite in yellow for the body, brown for the shorts, and white for the shirt, this pattern is both fun and beginner-friendly. It’s a great way to practice shaping, color changes, and create a cheerful character loved by all ages.

To make your SpongeBob, you’ll need a 5.5 mm hook, polyfil, felt face details (from ADHCrafted on Etsy), worsted weight yarn in dark brown or black for the mouth, and white for the tooth, plus basic tools like a darning needle and scissors. A big thanks to Jennifer Billings Ward for sharing this design—at the end of the tutorial you’ll also find more creative amigurumi SpongeBob ideas, and for a more detailed version of the pattern, be sure to visit her Instagram page @jnw.crochet.
